Chimie Bioorganique et Bioinorganique
The team's research is located at the chemistry-biology interface and combines the fields of bioorganic and bioinorganic chemistry, on the one hand, with the fundamental study of biological processes on the molecular scale, on the other hand, on the development of molecules or devices to respond to current major societal challenges related to health, energy and the environment, such as:
- understanding the mechanisms of action of biomolecules (enzymes, metalloenzymes, etc) and their interactions with natural or synthetic entities (substrates, inhibitors, metal complexes, electrochemical bioreceptors, etc),
- the identification of novel therapeutic targets for the development of new types of drugs, including the eco-design of molecules of therapeutic interest and the synthesis of prodrugs of controlled release active ingredients in space and time,
- the development of artificial enzymes (artzymes) or bio-inspired catalysts for oxidation catalysis, enzymatic multicatalysis in cascade, the oxidation of water, or the enzymatic catalysis of new reactions ,
- the development of electrochemical biosensors and microfluidic devices for ultra-sensitive and specific detection of biological biomarkers in human fluids or pollutants in environmental matrices.
These scientific objectives are developed within three main research themes.
