What you get:
It provides crystallographic and structural information on compounds (the positions of atoms in 3D; figures; interatomic distances and angles; intra and intermolecular bonds, modes of molecular association). In advances studies, it provides the determination of the absolute configuration of molecules, atoms charges and the calculation of electrostatic potentials.
Principle: Measurement of intensities diffracted by minerals, organic and organometallic crystals subjected to X-rays.
How to use it: This diffractometer Bruker APEX II is not run under free service.
Options:
Low temperature (90K-T ambient). At low temperatures, very precise measurements on compounds of medium size can provide information on the characteristics of the electron density and hence on chemical bonds and their relationships with physical properties.
