Antoine FADEL obtained his "Diploma in Chemistry" at the Lebanese University of Beirut graduating with first Class Honorus in 1975. He then moved to France where under the quidance of Prof. J.M. Conia, he received his Ph. D. in 1980. Under the Direction of Prof. Conia and Dr J. Salaün, he received his "Doctorat d'Etat" in 1983 at the University of Paris-Sud (Orsay) working on "Rearrangement and reactivity of cyclopropanol, cyclobutanol and cycloaddition [2+2] with cyclobutene" In 1980 he took up a research position as "Attaché de recherche" in the CNRS, and he joined in 1983-1984 the group of Dr J. Salaün where he studied " ring enlargement induced by FeCl3 dispersed on silica gel". In 1984 was promoted "Chargé de recherche" in the CNRS. The same year, he joined the group of Prof. D. Seebach at the ETH (Zürich) as a Post-doctoral fellow, where he was the pioneer for the development of the self-reproduction of the chiral center of amino acids from oxazolidinones. In 1985 he then return to Orsay working with Dr. J. Salaün and constituted his own research group in 1991 and became Directeur de Recherche in 2001 in the CNRS at the "Institut de Chimie Moléculaire et des Matériaux d'Orsay" (ICMMO) at the University Paris-Sud. His main research interests include asymmetric synthesis, enzymatic reactions, strained cycles, aminoacids and phosphonic analogues and their incorporation into peptides
