  • Jacques Courtieu has been at the University of Paris-Sud since October, 1968. He studied chemistry, mathematics and physics at Orsay. In 1974, he defended his PhD thesis in Orsay entitled "Sur les applications de la Résonance Magnétique Nucléaire dans les cristaux liquides"

  • Jacques Courtieu subsequently was a two years postdoctoral fellow of the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, in the David M. Grant's NMR Group.

  • Since 1983 he has been Professor of Chemistry at the University of Paris-Sud and for 1998-2001 Chairman of the Orsay Institute for Molecular Chemistry (ICMO).

  • Professor Courtieu's teaching and research interests are in the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) of oriented media, with applications in structural chemistry.
  • Award: 1999 Grammatikakis-Neuman Prize from the French Academy of Sciences
