Vincent Gandon was born in Soissons, France, in 1973. He received his Master 2 degree with highest honors in Chemistry in 1999 and his Ph.D. in 2002 from the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne. After a postdoctoral stay at the University of California, Riverside, he joined the faculty of the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris in 2003, as Maître de Conférences (Assistant Professor "à la française"). In 2008 he received his HDR diploma (Habilitation to conduct research), and in 2009, he was appointed full Professor at the University of Paris-sud (Orsay). His research interests are in the field of organic synthesis with an emphasis on the discovery of cobalt-, gold-, and platinum-catalyzed reactions, and on mechanistic studies by DFT computations.
