Sophie Bezzenine-Lafollée was born in Paris, France, in 1972. She studied chemistry, where she obtained her Ph.D. in 1998 under the supervision of Dr. Henri Rudler at Université Paris VI. She then undertook postdoctoral studies on asymmetric synthesis using rhodium complexes with Professor Paul Müller at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She spent two years in the laboratory of Professor J. Ardisson and Dr. A. Pancrazi at the Université de Cergy-Pontoise, France, working on the total synthesis of anti-biotic macrolides. She obtained a Maître de Conférences position in 2001 at Orsay University and worked with Dr. F. Guibé on the synthesis of cyclopropanic compounds mediated by samarium diiodide. She then joined the group of Dr. J. Collin in 2005. Her main current research interests are enantioselective catalysis with lanthanide complexes and applications in synthesis.
