Marie-Christine Scherrmann received her BSc and MSc in Chemistry from the Université de Lorraine. She graduated at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees (INSA, Rouen) in 1989, and obtained her PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University Paris Sud exploring the use of aqueous sugars solution as solvents in organic synthesis under the supervision of Prof. A. Lubineau. After a Lavoisier post-doctoral fellowship in the group of Prof. A. Dondoni at the University of Ferrara, Italy, dealing with the synthesis of C-glycosides and glycosyl-calixarenes, she was appointed lecturer at the University Paris Sud. Her research interest was centered on the use of monoclonal antibodies as catalysts in organic synthesis. She became Professor of Organic Chemistry at Orsay where she set up a new research group working on green chemistry. Recent work is dealing with continuous-flow process, asymmetric organocatalysis, use of alternatives media in synthesis as well as green metrics.
